What do you do when you have a great story to tell, one that you want to preserve in a scrapbook, but don't really have any pictures to go along with it? I choose to create a scrapbook layout that will focus on the story, and use decorative items to create a beautiful page. That is what happened with this page. It is about my journey from Victoria to Houston to Dallas, which was quite a trip. Let's just say it involves a 8 passenger plane, a storm over Houston, and a lot of waiting around in airports. I only had two small pictures, and they weren't very good pictures at that. So, I did a lot of journaling, which you can't see in this picture, but you can see where I hid it below in the next set of images.

I wanted to make a fun card to send to a friend, just to say hello. I cut the airplane using my Beep Beep Cricut cartridge, put it together and added a little pen work. The background paper was made using my Cuttlebug and a embossing folder by Darice called Cloudy Sky. I printed the "Flying by to say hi" out using the computer. I used the CK font, Wistful. I think it adds a bit of fun to the project. Then I finished it off using ribbon by Studio G.

I took around 200 pictures that day, I know, a bit overkill, I can't help it. Part of the excess number of pictures is that my cousin Alexis took my camera for a while, and had a great time, she got some great shots as well. I think I will push her to take the photography class for her elective next school year. This page took me about 20 min to complete. The first thing I did was cut out the firetruck using my Beep Beep cricut cartridge. I cut it at 4 in, I wanted it to be pretty big. Next I found the paper, I knew I wanted to use the star paper, but it was really bright, so cutting it down to use as a border worked great. I bought the "fire fighter" title, and used it as is. Then it was just choosing which of the 200 picures to use, I choose two of my favs, and really the two that I think really represented the day. If you ask Dallas what the best part of his party was, he will tell you that it was the cake and the firetruck bounce house. The last thing I did was cut out a small picture of Dallas to put in the firetruck. It's a cute way to add one more picuture to the page.
Materials Used: Cricut: Beep Beep Paper: The Paper Studio - Little Boys and Their Toys paper pack (brown background) and The Paper Studio - All Seasons II paper pack (stars) Title: Laserline We celebrated my little man's 5th birthday, yesterday, with our family and friends, which we are so blessed to have. Even though not everyone was able to attend, we had a great time with those who were there. Dallas decided that he wanted to have a fire fighter birthday party, which was easy enough to do. I wanted to give the kids something small to take home as a thank you for coming to the party. I made these little candy bags for each one, and the best part was that they only cost me around $4.00 total for all of them, and that was just to buy the candy. I had the ziplock bags in my kitchen and the paper came from my scrapbook room. Materials Used: Firetruck: Cricut - Beep Beep Brickwall: Tan cardstock, Cuttlebug, and Bricks embossing folder by the Paper Studio The big, firetruck bounce house was a lot of fun. Thank you to Joe's Jump in Denton. I would use them again, they delivered early and picked up on time, and were in and out in less than 15 min each time. They were very nice, good priced, and professional.
